You know what they say..."Cousins are connected at the heart. Distance and time can't keep them apart." Addie and Danielle are the best of friends, and their moms just happen to be sisters. They are also both enjoying their last year of high school. Though they live in separate states, a joint senior session seemed to be a beautiful tribute to the bond these lovely young ladies share.
Addie and her family live in Colorado while Danielle and her family live in the Chicago suburbs, so these girls only get to see each other once a year or so. Addie’s mom, Jen, reached out to me when she learned that an October family wedding would bring this pair into the Peoria area, which provided the perfect opportunity to get them in front of my lens together. Their session took place in downtown Peoria.
As seniors, these cousins have much to look forward to in the next chapter of their respective journeys. Addie is excited to pursue a career in firefighting, and Danielle will attend college to study music and film. Even though these two have different interests and passions, they also have much in common. They both love to journal, so we made sure to get some good journaling photos. They also both play the ukulele and absolutely love music in general. It was immediately evident that, like the truest of friends, Addie and Danielle were able to pick up right where they left off.
I hold this family very dear to my heart. On the other side of Addie’s family, she’s also a cousin to my kids. We hadn’t seen each other in nearly a decade, but thankfully we had the chance to reconnect a few years ago when Dusty, the kids and I took a trip out west and were able to meet up with them for the day in Colorado.
Following Addie and Danielle’s session, I was beyond grateful that this beautiful and generous family invited my kiddos and I to join them for dinner where the cousins got to spend some special time hanging out together. It was so sweet, and it was the perfect ending to this fun session!
