We first introduced you to Monica and Josh in a post over the summer. Like many others, their plans to wed during a pandemic left them unable to celebrate in the way they deserved. They were married in September of 2020 in a tiny wedding in Colorado with only a few guests on-hand to witness their forever-commitment to one another. They always knew they'd eventually host a reception with many more friends and family in attendance, and it was my privilege to capture this proper celebration, also marking their first anniversary.
Not only did they miss out on being able to include all of the family and friends they would have liked in their 2020 wedding, but they also didn’t get the quality of photos they hoped for. Because I knew photos were of pinnacle importance this time around, we took many photos with their families and bridal party. I also made sure to get PLENTY of bride and groom shots prior to their reception.
As I referenced in a previous post, some brides are very detail-oriented and specific. Monica, however, was sooo laid back that she didn’t even give me a list of family photos until a few days leading up to the event. I didn’t mind this...we just rolled with it, and I let my creativity take over. In my experience, there's never a "right" or "wrong" way to go about these situations as long as everyone is on the same page.
The event took place at Monica's family's homestead outside of Washburn. I snapped shots of the ladies getting ready inside the home. The family and bridal party photos were captured right in the front yard, and the reception was held in a huge Morton building just 100 yards from the house.
Monica and Josh's reception was a fun-filled evening full of fabulous food (all homemade with love), family and friends. The overall vibe was very country glam...fancy dress, fancy nails, beer drinking, cowboy boot wearing…one look at these photos, and you'll see exactly what I mean. Monica and Josh’s dog even made it to the dance floor!
