Stubblefield Family Photos

I commonly get asked to shoot family sessions around the holidays when families will be traveling from near and far to celebrate together. This usually means we have a very small margin of "wiggle room" when it comes to scheduling as was the case with the beautifully-blended Stubblefield family. Their oldest son was on a short military leave from North Carolina with his wife, so we knew we had to make it happen. In cases like this, sometimes the weather cooperates...and sometimes it doesn't, and we have to make the best of it. One nice thing about being a professional photographer for as long as I have is that I have the ability edit away the drab gloominess of a cold and windy winter day as needed...which is precisely what this session called for.

We shot in East Peoria, and it was so windy and dreary that day. It literally looked like it could rain at any moment, but the show had to go on! The “rough draft” photos were totally lackluster and gray. Once my fingers thawed out, I was able to brighten everything up post-session in Photoshop to make the day seem brighter and less frigid. We shot around 2:00 p.m., and after staying upbeat and smiling through the entirety of this outdoor winter session, the Stubblefields went out for a well-deserved early dinner. Something tells me they probably didn't order ice cream for dessert!

I think we can all agree that despite the far-from-ideal conditions we shot under, these photos turned out great!
